Project Visual Eyes

Google Glass opened up a whole new range of possibilities in a variety of industries, especially in areas of health and science.  Our small think tank sought to envision ways in which AR could aid in the execution of healthcare and science.

Healthcare:  Even with the advent and proliferation of virtual healthcare appointments, there was still room for AR in healthcare for in-person visits and hospital staff.  In a survey of healthcare professionals, one area in which they say they spend a significant amount of time is documentation.  We envisioned healthcare professionals having the ability to attend to patients and document details concurrently.  Additionally, via the use of the camera and an accessible database, cursory diagnosing may also be possible.  For example, a skin lesion that has a vague appearance and could logically be diagnosed broadly as multiple conditions.  Analyzing the images and returning results instantly could help to narrow down a diagnosis, as well as which potential tests are needed.

Environmental Science:  In the field, scientists could foreseeably record live data that is geo-recorded and backed up in the cloud…all without the encumbrance of having a phone/camera in hand.
